Volunteering can lead to work experience, reference letters, volunteer hours for school, university , and a sense of pride by helping your community. As a not for profit organization, we could not have the success of our events, gallery, and programs without the help of our dedicated volunteers. We would like you to join our team.

Volunteers are needed to help with this annual event (2010: Wearable Art Awards Exhibition dates are January 21 – March 21. Volunteers are needed for exhibit strike on March 22.) CLICK HERE for details.

Volunteers are needed to help at our Gallery Opening Receptions throughout the year. Duties include helping refresh food and drinks, clearing glasses and general assistance for the guests throughout the evening. The openings are Thursdays every month or two. There are two shifts: 1:00pm-5:00pm and 5:00pm-9:00pm with clean up after the event.

Gallery Installers

Volunteers are need to assist with the installation of gallery exhibits. The installations take place on Tuesday mornings between10:00am and 1:00pm every month or two. You must be able to lift paintings and use ladders. A set schedule is provided for the year. Contact ruthhoyem@pomoartscentre.ca for further information.

Do you enjoy working with kids in a fun-filled atmosphere but can’t commit to a one week block of time this summer? Or perhaps you’d like to keep volunteering through the year. We offer children’s birthday parties on the weekends and are always looking for dynamic teens to assist our instructors with the art activity portion of the party. This position is ongoing throughout the year and each party requires a 1 ½ hour commitment with similar duties to the teaching assistants. Art projects include clay, t-shirt painting, jewelry making, and more.
